Set up your PIN and fingerprint

Secure the app with a 4-digit PIN the first time you sign in, and optionally unlock with your fingerprint.

Mobile app

The first time you sign in on a phone, the app asks you to set up a PIN before it shows anything else — including any invitation waiting for you. It's required: the app holds care information, and it locks itself shortly after you switch away or close it.

If your phone has a fingerprint (or face) unlock set up, you can use that as well as the PIN.

  1. Step 1

    Start the setup

Secure Your App explains what the lock does. Tap Continue. There's no way to skip this step.

  2. Step 2

    Create your PIN

Tap four digits for your PIN, then tap the same four again to confirm. If they don't match, the app says PINs Don't Match and you start again. Pick digits other people won't guess.

  3. Step 3

    Choose fingerprint unlock

If your phone has a fingerprint enrolled, you're asked whether to use it too. Tap Enable Fingerprint and touch the sensor when your phone asks — it's only turned on once that scan succeeds. Or tap Skip for now. On an iPhone the option is Touch ID or Face ID. You can change this later under Lock Screen in your Profile.

  4. Step 4

    Test it

You're All Set! confirms what the app is secured with. Tap Try Now — the app locks straight away.

  5. Step 5

    Unlock

The lock screen asks for your fingerprint by itself: touch the sensor and you're straight back in. If you don't use your fingerprint, the app's own PIN pad is underneath — enter your 4-digit PIN (the prompt's Use PIN button is for your phone's PIN, not the app's). Use Fingerprint brings the prompt back. From now on the app locks after a short delay whenever you switch away or close it. If you forget your PIN, tap Forgot your PIN? Log out to reset, sign in again and set a new one.
